About Henry Ogbomo

Dr. Henry Ogbomo PhD, MD
I was born and raised in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. I completed my bachelor’s degree
in microbiology at the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. This was followed by my
master’s in biology and PhD in Cancer Immunotherapy, both at the Johann Wolgang
Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany. I relocated to Canada in 2009 and did a
postdoctoral fellowship from 2010 to 2015 with research initially focused on immunotherapy
of brain tumours and subsequently on immune control of fungal infection at the University of
Calgary, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I have over 17 years’ experience in medical research
and have published 28 scientific research papers. I also worked briefly as an adjunct
professor at the Alberta Bible College, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where I taught a
leadership class in 2016.
In 2020, I completed my medical degree, and a residency in family medicine in 2022, both
at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
I served as the Edo State Cultural Ambassador to Western Canada (2018-2020), as well as
the President, Calgary Benins Professional Association (2016-2020).
Currently, I work as a Family Physician in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I am married with five
children.
